Network connectivity failure and the activation server
In the event of a network failure, the following factors apply to the activation server connection:
- The computer makes three attempts to reconnect to the activation server.
- There is a 60-second interval between attempts.
- There is a two-hour TCP Timeout on the local computer before concurrent activations are checked back in to the activation server.
Grace period
Loss of network connectivity, user configuration error, hardware failure, insufficient available activations or any other activation failure will not deny the short-term use of critical Rockwell Automation software products. When activation fails, the product will still operate for a seven-day grace period.
A message display for these reasons:
- When the grace period starts
- At four-hour intervals while the software is running under a grace period
- Whenever the software starts under a grace period
- When the grace period expires
- When activation is found and the grace period is ending
- All Rockwell Automation Software products that affect running systems provide a grace period. Products used for design (that would not halt a running system) may or may not provide a grace period.
