Activation file

A text file that contains all of the activation information that is required for a software product to properly function. While the file is simply plain text with an ".lic" extension, the contents of the file are protected by a signature. Copying an activation file to another computer will not activate software on that computer, because the signature held in the activation file is associated with a specific piece of hardware   an Ethernet address, a hard disk serial number, or a dongle.
